360-degree rotatable cantilever hoist manipulator

The 360° fully rotating lightweight cantilever robot is a “star” piece of equipment in modern precision manufacturing and logistics assembly. Its core advantages lie in its unlimited continuous rotation capability and extremely low motion inertia, making it ideal for high-frequency, high-precision workstation operations.

1. Equipment Structure Diagram and Working Range

This type of robot typically consists of a column, a rotating arm (cantilever), a rotary joint (slip ring), and an end effector.

  • Working Area: Circular. 360° rotation eliminates lateral limitations, but there is an inaccessible “dead zone” directly below the column, typically with a radius of 300-500mm.
  • Unlimited Rotation: Built-in electro-pneumatic slip rings ensure that cables do not become tangled during arm rotation.

2. Three Core Selection Parameters

A. Load Parameters:

  • Lifting Capacity: Light-duty equipment typically covers weights from 50kg, 100kg, 200kg, 300kg to 500kg.
  • Eccentric Load: The weight of the end effector (gripper) and its center of gravity offset must be considered, as this can generate a significant overturning moment.

B. Geometry Parameters:

  • Effective Radius (R): Typically 2m – 5m. For every 1m increase in radius, the foundation strength requirement increases exponentially.
  • Lifting Height (H): The vertical travel of the hook or gripper.
  • Clearance Height: The height from the factory beams to the ground, determining whether the robotic arm can fit.

C. Power Parameters:

Drive Method:

  • Manual Rotation: Relying on operator pushing and pulling, suitable for loads under 200kg, with minimal resistance (thrust < 2kg).
  • Electric Rotation: Variable frequency speed control ensures smooth start and stop, preventing workpiece swaying.

Lifting Power: Electric hoist (stable speed), pneumatic balancer (with floating feel), or servo hoist (high precision).

3. Key Technical Points: 360° Rotary Slip Ring

This is the technical challenge in achieving 360° rotation.

  • Pneumatic Slip Ring: If your end effector is a pneumatic suction cup or pneumatic clamp, the rotary joint must ensure that the multi-channel air path is leak-proof.
  • Electrical Current Collector: Uses carbon brushes or gold alloy contacts to ensure uninterrupted power and control signals (such as bus signals) during rotation.

4. Installation Requirements

  • Ground: Must be reinforced concrete with a strength of at least C25, typically with a thickness > 200mm.
  • Anchors: Light-duty models often use chemical bolts for fixing; large-tonnage machines require pre-embedded anchor bolts.
  • Safety: Must be equipped with a rotation brake (to prevent spontaneous rotation due to inertia or wind force when not in operation) and a travel limit switch.
