Heat Exchanger Handling Manipulator

heat exchanger handling manipulator

A Heat Exchanger Handling Manipulator is a specialized ergonomic lifting device designed to manage the high weight and awkward dimensions of heat exchanger units during manufacturing, assembly, or maintenance.

Heat exchangers (whether shell-and-tube, plate, or finned) are notoriously difficult to handle because they are heavy, dense, and often fragile—their external fins or internal tubes can be easily damaged by standard chains or rough forklift handling.

Key Functionalities

These manipulators provide “zero-gravity” or weightless movement, allowing a single operator to perform complex maneuvers:

  • 90° to 180° Tilting/Pitching: Essential for moving a unit from a horizontal assembly line to a vertical testing station or shipping pallet.
  • 360° Rotation: Allows the operator to spin the unit to access all sides for welding, bolting, or cleaning.
  • Precise Alignment: Provides the “soft touch” needed to align bolt holes or slide a tube bundle into a shell without scratching the interior surfaces.
